It’s been over a decade since I was last in Hawaii so returning there this past summer was a whole new experience. I stayed in Waikiki for the entire trip and split the hotels into two nights at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki and 4 nights at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Arriving at the Hyatt, it was actually too early to check-in. I was given access to the Regency Club lounge on the 39th floor and went up there to relax while my room was prepared. The lounge is no longer on the 39th floor and it has been moved to the 3rd floor. The views from 39 are beautiful so I’m glad I got to experience that before it was too late!
The room was in the Diamond Head tower and was very spacious. There was a large balcony with a great view of the beach and of Diamond Head.
The coolest thing about the room, aside from the view, was the Toto Washlet. This system is from Japan and it connects to the toilet and cleans your bum after you take the Browns to the Super Bowl, if you know what I mean. I was a little apprehensive at first but it’s a pretty cool invention.
There was a minor issue with the room though. There were some renovations going on in the room next door so the power to the room was shut off. The unfortunate part was that doing so actually cut off some of the power in my room as well. Hyatt customer service was great. Within 5 -10 minutes of my report, someone was knocking on my door to take a look at the situation. They offered to put me in another room but the view was too nice to give up. The lamp on the desk was bright enough and it provided a calming atmosphere to the room. A few minutes later, I received a call from the front desk with another offer to change rooms. I declined and they proceeded to offer me a $50 resort credit to compensate. That was a very nice gesture!
I wish I had spent more than two nights here because it really is a nice hotel and the location is great. The customer service here is probably the best I’ve experienced. I think I’ve been fortunate to not have many issues during my trips. The staff at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki handled everything perfectly. I look forward to returning soon!
